Abstract

This article examines modern pedagogical methods for developing
students’ communicative competence in English language teaching. Communicative
competence is considered one of the key outcomes of contemporary foreign language
education because it enables learners not only to understand grammatical structures
and vocabulary but also to use English appropriately and effectively in real-life
communication. The study analyzes communicative language teaching, task-based
language teaching, project-based learning, cooperative learning, role-play,
educational games, digital technologies, authentic materials, and blended learning as
effective approaches to developing learners’ communicative abilities. Particular
attention is paid to the integration of speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
and to the creation of learner-centered classroom environments. The article also
discusses the role of motivation, interaction, feedback, and learner autonomy in
developing communicative competence. The findings suggest that the systematic
combination of interactive and technology-enhanced methods can increase students’
participation, confidence, fluency, and ability to use English in meaningful contexts.
Practical recommendations are proposed for teachers seeking to organize effective
communicative English lessons.
