Abstract

Abstract. This thesis examines the educational value of Roald Dahl’s fairy-tale-like children’s works and the psychological mechanisms through which they may influence young readers. Using close reading and thematic analysis interpreted through the theories of Bettelheim, Erikson, Vygotsky, and Bandura, the study identifies three main contributions: moral education through poetic justice, support for emotional development through the symbolic confrontation of fear and injustice, and stimulation of language and imagination. The findings indicate that Dahl’s tales are most beneficial when read with adult mediation.
