HOW DO PRO-INFLAMMATORY AND ANTI-INFLAMMATORY CYTOKINES INTERACT DURING CYTOKINE STORM DEVELOPMENT IN COVID-19?
Abstract
Abstract: The cytokine storm during COVID-19 is associated with different types of cytokines. Especially, pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines are the driving factors of storms. Some studies suggest that storms are linked with all of the cytokines, while others reveal that they depend on the specific ones, such as interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor alpha. This review, using PubMed and Google Scholar, examines the interaction between pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines. This paper could help scientists and doctors to come to overall conclusions about cytokine interactions during COVID-19 infection.
