ADVENTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ONLINE LEARNING ENGLISH

The paper examines the theoretical foundations of CLT, the role of grammar instruction (Focus on Form vs. Focus on Forms), its integration with Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), and practical methods in both traditional and digital contexts. It further explores the advantages and disadvantages of online English language learning, supported by meta-analyses and empirical studies. Research indicates that while online platforms offer significant flexibility and resource richness, they often face challenges in developing speaking fluency and maintaining learner motivation. The blended (hybrid) model, combining CLT principles with online tools, emerges as the most effective approach. Special attention is given to the context of Uzbekistan and similar developing education systems. Findings suggest that properly designed CLT-based online instruction can significantly enhance both grammatical accuracy and overall communicative competence.Abstract
This article provides a comprehensive analysis of effectively teaching
grammatical topics through the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach,
with a particular focus on online learning environments. CLT emphasizes the
development of full communicative competence (grammatical, discourse, strategic,
and sociolinguistic) by treating grammar not as an isolated set of rules but as an integral
tool for real-life communication.
