SEMANTIC AND STRUCTURAL FEATURES OF LINGUISTIC TERMS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK
Keywords:

The article studies the semantic and structural features of linguistic terms in
English and Uzbek. The main attention is given to the meaning of linguistic terms,
their form, and their use in two different language systems. The article analyzes one
word terms, compound terms, borrowed terms, translated terms, and terms formed with
affixes. The material is taken from linguistic dictionaries, terminology studies, and
basic books on linguistics. The main methods are descriptive analysis, comparative
analysis, structural analysis, semantic grouping, and simple component analysis. These
methods help to show how a term is built and how a term names a scientific concept.
The expected result is a clearer view of similarities and differences between English
and Uzbek linguistic terminology. English terms often include Latin or Greek roots
and short compound forms. Uzbek terms often include adapted international terms,
native translated forms, and descriptive noun phrases. The novelty of the article is the
combined study of meaning and structure of linguistic terms in both languages in one
simple comparative frame.
