THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORMS IN TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

This article examines the effectiveness of online learning platforms in teaching
English as a Foreign Language. Digital platforms are widely used for vocabulary
learning, grammar practice, writing support, speaking rehearsal, and teacher-student
interaction. The article analyzes how such platforms support language development,
which benefits are reported in recent studies, and which limits should be considered.
Special attention is given to flexible access, immediate feedback, learner motivation,
personalized practice, and regular exposure to English. Problems such as weak self
discipline, unequal internet access, limited real communication, and overdependence
on automated help are also discussed. The study uses descriptive analysis, comparative
analysis, contextual analysis, and extract-based interpretation of recent research. The
findings show that online learning platforms can be effective when digital activities
are connected with clear teaching goals, guided practice, and teacher control. The
novelty of the article lies in a balanced view of online platforms as useful support
systems rather than complete replacements for classroom instruction.
