THE ESSENCE OF THE CONCEPT

This article analyzes the essence of the term “concept” in linguistics, its
distinction from lexical units, scholarly interpretations, and issues related to its study.
A concept is regarded as a cognitive unit expressed through human thought, cultural
values, and language. The article examines approaches to the concept by scholars such
as V.Z. Demyankov, S.A. Askoldov, A.A. Zalevskaya, N.D. Arutyunova, Z.D.
Popova, I.A. Sternin, and M.R. Galiyeva, including circular models and classifications.
Furthermore, the cultural, linguistic-cultural, cognitive, and emotional dimensions of
the concept are analyzed, highlighting its role and significance within linguistics.
