Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital communication has significantly influenced the
evolution of the English language in ways that are both visible and subtle. This work
explores how abbreviations, emojis, and memes are reshaping the way English is
written, interpreted, and understood across digital platforms. By examining linguistic
patterns in online communication, the study highlights how these forms contribute to
efficiency, creativity, and identity expression. At the same time, it considers common
concerns about declining language standards. The findings indicate that digital
communication does not weaken English but instead drives its transformation, making
it more flexible and responsive to the needs of modern users.
