Mazkur maqolada geoinformatsion tizimlar (GIS) yordamida
tabiiy ofatlarni prognozlashning ilmiy-amaliy imkoniyatlari tahlil qilinadi. GIS
texnologiyalarining tabiiy ofatlar monitoringi, xavf zonalarini aniqlash, fazoviy
ma’lumotlarni qayta ishlash hamda favqulodda vaziyatlarning oldini olishdagi
ahamiyati yoritilgan. Shuningdek, sun’iy yo‘ldosh tasvirlari, masofadan zondlash
(Remote Sensing), GPS va raqamli relyef modellari asosida tabiiy ofatlarni bashorat
qilishning zamonaviy usullari ko‘rib chiqilgan. O‘zbekiston sharoitida GIS
texnologiyalaridan foydalanish istiqbollari ham tahlil etilgan.
