Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of game-based activities in
teaching grammar to young learners. The research compares traditional grammar
instruction with a game-based learning approach by dividing participants into a control
group and an experimental group. While the control group received teacher-centered
instruction through explanation and written exercises, the experimental group learned
grammar through interactive games and collaborative sentence-building activities. The
findings reveal that game-based learning increases student motivation, classroom
participation, and contextual grammar usage. Most respondents viewed grammar
games as an effective way to encourage active learning and improve engagement.
However, some concerns were raised regarding students focusing more on competition
than learning objectives. Overall, the study demonstrates that game-based grammar
instruction creates a more interactive and motivating learning environment for young
learners and can significantly support grammar acquisition when properly structured.
