Abstract

Sepsis remains one of the leading causes of mortality in
intensive care units worldwide, characterized by high incidence and fatality rates. The
rapid progression of the disease, nonspecific clinical manifestations, and delays in
etiological diagnosis significantly hinder the timely initiation of adequate
antimicrobial therapy. According to evidence-based data, each hour of delay in
patients with septic shock is associated with a substantial increase in mortality risk.
In this context, the implementation of modern laboratory technologies that
enable rapid identification of causative pathogens and determination of their
antimicrobial susceptibility is of particular importance. Advanced diagnostic
approaches make it possible to reduce the time to etiological diagnosis to one working
day, optimize individualized antimicrobial therapy, and improve clinical outcomes in
patients with sepsis.
