Annotation: Periodontitis and type 2 diabetes pose serious health challenges worldwide. Estimates suggest that up to 50% of the global population suffers from gum disease, and this figure is likely to increase in the future, driven by longer life expectancies, improved dental health, and an aging population. The global diabetes epidemic is one of the most significant public health challenges of the 21st century. Currently, there are approximately 537 million diabetics worldwide, and according to estimates by the World Health Organization and the International Diabetes Federation, this number will reach 643 million by 2030.
