NATURE AND ECOPOETICS IN LOUISE GLÜCK'S THE WILD IRIS: AN ECOCRITICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract: Ecopoetics explores the relationship between poetry and the natural world, emphasizing ecological awareness through literary expression. Louise Glück, the 2020 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner, frequently uses natural imagery to examine human emotions, memory, and existence. This article analyzes selected poems by Glück from an ecocritical perspective, focusing on how nature functions as both a physical presence and a symbolic voice. Using close textual analysis, the study argues that Glück's poetry presents nature as an active participant in human experience rather than a passive background. The findings show that her ecopoetic vision encourages readers to reconsider the relationship between humanity and the environment.
