Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed the fashion industry by introducing innovative approaches to garment design, pattern development, and product customization. Among these innovations, parametric design has emerged as an effective methodology that enables designers to generate adaptive garment patterns based on body measurements, geometric relationships, and predefined design parameters. Unlike conventional pattern-making methods, parametric design facilitates rapid modification of garment dimensions while preserving structural accuracy, aesthetic balance, and production efficiency.

This study investigates the application of parametric design methods in contemporary women's apparel through a design-oriented research approach. The research integrates literature analysis, digital pattern engineering principles, ergonomic garment design, and comparative evaluation of conventional and parametric pattern development processes. Three women's garment prototypes representing casual, formal, and transformable clothing were digitally modeled and assessed using criteria including dimensional adaptability, pattern accuracy, production efficiency, fit quality, and design flexibility.

The findings indicate that parametric design significantly improves pattern generation efficiency, reduces repetitive manual operations, enhances customization capabilities, and simplifies size adaptation without compromising garment aesthetics. Furthermore, the integration of digital body measurements with parametric modeling supports sustainable apparel development by minimizing material waste and reducing the number of physical prototypes required during the design process. The study proposes a systematic workflow for implementing parametric pattern engineering in women's apparel design and demonstrates its potential to improve both educational practices and industrial garment production. Future research should incorporate three-dimensional virtual fitting technologies, artificial intelligence-assisted pattern optimization, and automated manufacturing systems to further enhance digital fashion design methodologies.
