This article examines the role of web-based collaboration and professional communities in contemporary education and professional development. Drawing on major international books on networked learning, communities of practice, online communities, and remote collaboration, the paper analyzes how digital platforms expand access to expertise, support collective problem solving, and strengthen reflective practice. The study shows that web-based collaboration is not only a technical process but also a social and pedagogical framework that helps members exchange knowledge, co-create resources, and sustain professional identity. Special attention is given to the educational value of collaborative writing tools, discussion forums, social platforms, learning management systems, and webinar-based communities. The article also discusses the main challenges of online collaboration, including information overload, uneven digital literacy, superficial participation, and problems of trust. It argues that the greatest value of professional web communities appears when communication is purposeful, moderated, and connected to real practice.
