Abstract

Art education plays a vital role in the holistic development of children, particularly at the elementary school level, where fundamental cognitive, emotional, and social skills are formed. This study explores the significance of integrating art into early education, emphasizing its contribution to creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-expression. Drawing on educational theories proposed by scholars such as John Dewey and Lev Vygotsky, the paper highlights how artistic activities enhance not only aesthetic appreciation but also intellectual and social growth. Despite its importance, art education is often undervalued in modern curricula, where greater emphasis is placed on traditional academic subjects. This imbalance may limit children's ability to fully develop their imagination and expressive abilities. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the role of art education in elementary schools and to demonstrate its impact on children's overall development. The findings suggest that art should be considered an essential component of the education system to support well-rounded and balanced growth in young learners.
