Bariatric surgery is an effective method for the treatment of severe obesity, but postoperative metabolic, nutritional and gastrointestinal changes may create specific risks for oral health. In patients after bariatric surgery, changes in salivary secretion, oral pH, dietary habits, vitamin and microelement absorption, and oral microbiota may increase susceptibility to dental caries, gingival inflammation, stomatitis, periodontitis and dental erosion. The purpose of this article is to substantiate the clinical and stomatological effectiveness of an individualized oral hygiene regimen aimed at preventing oral cavity diseases in patients who have undergone bariatric surgery. The proposed approach includes clinical dental examination, assessment of oral hygiene and periodontal status, salivary pH monitoring, analysis of patient awareness, professional hygiene, fluoride-based prevention, interdental cleaning, dietary counseling and regular stomatological follow-up. The expected outcome of this individualized regimen is improvement of plaque control, stabilization of gingival and periodontal tissues, reduction of cariogenic and erosive risk factors, and increased patient adherence to preventive recommendations. The integration of dental monitoring into postoperative bariatric care is considered an important element of multidisciplinary rehabilitation and may contribute to improving quality of life and reducing long-term treatment costs.References
