Abstract

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders affecting women of reproductive age and is a major cause of infertility and reproductive dysfunction worldwide. Characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology, PCOS is associated with a wide range of reproductive, metabolic, and psychological complications. This article examines the impact of PCOS on women’s reproductive health, emphasizing its effects on menstrual irregularities, anovulation, infertility, pregnancy complications, and long-term health outcomes. The role of insulin resistance, hormonal imbalance, and chronic inflammation in the pathogenesis of PCOS is also discussed. Early diagnosis, lifestyle modification, and individualized medical management are essential for improving reproductive function and reducing the risk of associated complications. Increased awareness and timely intervention can significantly enhance the quality of life and reproductive outcomes in women with PCOS.
