Abstract

In the contemporary educational landscape, the integration of multimedia resources into English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching has emerged as one of the most transformative and effective approaches to developing students' speaking competence. Multimedia technologies — encompassing educational videos, audio recordings, interactive digital presentations, podcasting platforms, digital storytelling tools, and online collaborative communication environments — create rich, authentic learning contexts that substantially enhance learners' motivation, self-confidence, and communicative proficiency. This paper provides a comprehensive theoretical and practical review of how multimedia resources can be strategically employed to improve speaking skills among EFL learners. Drawing upon relevant theoretical frameworks including the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach, the Input Hypothesis, and the Affective Filter Hypothesis, the study examines the pedagogical rationale for multimedia integration. Furthermore, the paper presents a range of evidence-based classroom activities, critically discusses implementation challenges, and offers practical recommendations for educators. The findings suggest that a thoughtfully designed multimedia-enriched environment leads to measurable improvements in learners' pronunciation accuracy, oral fluency, discourse competence, and overall communicative confidence.
