Abstract

This study explores the efficacy of using ChatGPT, an advanced conversa-tional AI developed by OpenAI, as a tool to enhance students' speaking skills in English language learning. Through a mixed-methods approach involving pre- and post-intervention assessments, participant surveys, and qualitative feedback, the research evaluates the impact of ChatGPT-mediated practice sessions on learners' pronunciation, fluency, and conversational confidence. Results indicate that integrat-ing ChatGPT into language learning curricula offers significant improvements in oral proficiency, while also providing learners with accessible and personalized speaking practice opportunities. The study discusses the implications of AI-assisted language education and suggests best practices for implementing ChatGPT as a supplementary resource in English language classrooms.
