“AI COMPANIONS: CAN AN ALGORITHM REPLACE HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS?”

This paper examines the psychological and social implications of the rising popularity of Artificial Intelligence (AI) companions. As digital loneliness increases globally, millions of users are turning to conversational AI bots for emotional support. This study explores whether these algorithmic entities can truly substitute human intimacy or if they pose a threat to real-world social skills. Through a qualitative analysis of user behavior and psychological frameworks, we argue that while AI provides temporary solace, it lacks the reciprocal vulnerability required for genuine human connection.
