Abstract

The improper use of antibiotics has become a serious global health problem leading to antimicrobial resistance, treatment failure, and increased healthcare costs. This article discusses the main consequences of antibiotic misuse, including self-medication, incorrect dosing, and unnecessary prescriptions. It also highlights the growing threat of antibiotic resistance, which makes common infections harder to treat and increases the risk of complications and mortality. Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the importance of rational antibiotic use, medical supervision, and public awareness in preventing the spread of resistant bacteria. Strengthening healthcare regulations and educating patients are essential strategies to preserve the effectiveness of antibiotics for future generations.
