This thesis examines the multifaceted factors influencing the development of English economic terminology, a dynamic lexicon shaped by historical, linguistic, and sociocultural forces. The study analyzes the impact of Latin and French borrowings during the medieval period, the role of the Industrial Revolution in coining new terms, and the contemporary influence of globalization and digital finance. Linguistic mechanisms such as compounding, affixation, and semantic shift are explored, alongside the standardization efforts of institutions like the IMF. Examples from original scripts, including Old English ceap and modern terms like cryptocurrency, illustrate lexical evolution. The findings highlight how economic terminology reflects broader societal changes, with implications for linguists and economists.
