This paper provides an in-depth investigation of two central grammatical lacunae in the comparison between English and Uzbek: the absence of the article system and the lack of a grammaticalized perfect aspect in Uzbek. While many studies have addressed general grammatical differences, this research focuses specifically on how these two lacunae shape meaning construction, cognition, and translation strategies. Using a combination of contrastive analysis, cognitive linguistics, and functional grammar, the study demonstrates that these lacunae are not simple structural absences but reflect fundamentally different ways of encoding definiteness, temporality, and speaker perspective. The paper offers extensive original examples, detailed explanations, and theoretical interpretations, contributing to both linguistic theory and applied fields such as translation and language teaching.
