Abstract

The rapid expansion of the digital economy in Uzbekistan presents unprecedented growth opportunities, yet local enterprises face severe operational friction when managing separate Business to Business and Business to Consumer electronic commerce channels. This article investigates the financial and operational dynamics of integrating these fragmented digital channels into a unified, hybrid architecture within a transition economy. Utilizing a rigorous mixed methods approach, the study combines qualitative case study analyses of regional software deployments, ranging from micro enterprises to large enterprise resource planning ecosystems, with a comparative economic framework evaluating the total cost of ownership and inventory optimization. The findings indicate that while unifying platforms requires substantial initial capital expenditure to secure compliant domestic infrastructure and middleware, it fundamentally eradicates long term operational friction. Integrating dual work-flows into a single database significantly reduces duplicated administrative overhead, optimizes shared inventory holding costs, and enhances market agility through centralized customer intelligence. Furthermore, the research concludes that technological integration must be coupled with institutional coherence to effectively overcome persistent structural barriers such as the shadow economy and logistical deficits. To guide local business leaders, the study proposes a structured, four phase adoption framework designed to systematically navigate the initial capital drain, leverage embedded financial tools, and ensure compliance with the unique regulatory contours of Uzbekistan’s maturing digital marketplace.
