Abstract

The role-play method is widely recognized as an effective pedagogical approach in teaching Professional English Communication, particularly in technical and higher education institutions. This method allows students to simulate real-life professional situations and actively use language in meaningful contexts. The present article examines the effectiveness of the role-play method in developing students’ communicative competence, professional vocabulary, and speaking skills in English. The study analyzes how role-play activities improve students’ motivation, interaction, and confidence in professional communication settings. It also explores various types of role-play techniques such as structured, semi-structured, and unstructured role-play tasks used in English language teaching. The findings indicate that role-play significantly enhances learners’ fluency, accuracy, and ability to communicate in real workplace situations. However, challenges such as classroom management, lack of preparation, and limited time are also discussed. The article concludes that role-play is an essential tool for developing professional communication skills in English language education.
