Abstract

This article analyzes the pragmatic functions of the repetition method used in English and Uzbek literature. Repetition in a literary text performs the functions of increasing emotional expressiveness, emphasizing the author's idea, revealing the spirit of the image, and focusing the reader's attention on important content. The study comparatively studies the communicative-pragmatic properties of anaphora, epiphora, lexical and syntactic repetitions based on examples from English and Uzbek literature. The results show that repetition is not only a stylistic device, but also an important linguistic phenomenon that shapes the pragmatic relationship between the author and the reader.
