Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of diplomatic vocabulary in English and Uzbek, focusing on the structural, semantic, and pragmatic characteristics that distinguish the two languages in formal diplomatic discourse. Drawing on a corpus of international agreements, official statements, and bilateral communication documents, the study examines the lexical choices, translation strategies, and cultural determinants that shape diplomatic meaning in each language. Special attention is given to the role of politeness conventions, modal expressions, and honorifics, as well as the influence of socio-political values such as collectivism, indirectness, and legalism. The paper proposes practical recommendations for translators and linguists working at the interface of English and Uzbek diplomatic communication, with the aim of enhancing cross-cultural understanding and translational accuracy in high-stakes international settings.
