This article explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in English Language Teaching (ELT), focusing on its opportunities and challenges in modern education. The study analyzes how AI-powered tools such as chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems, automated writing evaluation tools, and language learning applications contribute to improving students’ language skills. It also discusses pedagogical, ethical, and technical challenges associated with AI integration in vocational and higher education institutions. The findings suggest that AI significantly enhances personalized learning, learner autonomy, and engagement, while also raising concerns related to teacher roles, data privacy, and over-dependence on technology. The article concludes that AI should be used as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for teachers in ELT.
