TRANSLATION FEATURES OF MODERN CULTURAL CODES IN CONTEMPORARY INTERNET DISCOURSE: AN UZBEK PERSPECTIVE

The rapid development of digital communication and social media has led to the emergence of new cultural codes within internet discourse. These codes not only enrich the lexical system of language but also reflect the values, communicative practices, and worldview of contemporary society. This article examines the translation features of modern cultural codes commonly used in digital communication, including ghosting, doomscrolling, cringe, vibe, burnout, cancel culture, and quiet quitting, from English into Uzbek. The study is theoretical and analytical in nature and employs comparative, linguocultural, and pragmatic approaches. The analysis demonstrates that most contemporary cultural codes do not have direct lexical equivalents in Uzbek. Therefore, descriptive translation, pragmatic adaptation, and functional equivalence are identified as the most effective strategies for conveying their meanings. The study highlights the growing significance of internet discourse as a source of new cultural codes and emphasizes the importance of linguocultural competence in contemporary translation practice
