Abstract

The rapid development of mobile technology has changed the way students learn foreign languages. Today, many Uzbek students use mobile applications such as Duolingo, Google Translate, ELSA Speak, and YouTube to improve their English skills independently. This study investigates the use of mobile applications for independent English learning among Uzbek students and explores their perceptions of these tools. A questionnaire was conducted among 30 university students studying English. The findings show that mobile applications are widely used because they are convenient, accessible, and engaging. Most participants reported that mobile applications helped them improve their vocabulary, pronunciation, and listening skills. However, some challenges, including distractions and lack of regular practice, were also identified. The study concludes that mobile applications can effectively support independent English learning when used consistently and purposefully
