ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ONLINE LEARNING IN ENGLISH EDUCATION

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technologies has significantly transformed educational systems worldwide. Online learning has become an essential component of English language education, providing learners with flexible access to educational resources and opportunities for independent learning. The purpose of this study is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of online learning in English education and evaluate its impact on language acquisition. The research employed qualitative methods, including literature analysis, comparative analysis, and synthesis of previous studies. The findings indicate that online learning enhances accessibility, flexibility, learner autonomy, and digital literacy skills. However, challenges such as limited face-to-face interaction, technical difficulties, reduced motivation, and assessment issues may negatively affect learning outcomes. The study concludes that the effectiveness of online learning depends on the integration of appropriate pedagogical strategies and technological support.
