This article analyzes the theoretical and practical aspects of developing students' listening comprehension skills in English lessons. Listening comprehension is an important component of the process of learning a foreign language and is of particular importance in developing students' speaking competence. The article highlights modern methods of developing listening comprehension skills, interactive methods, the possibilities of using information and communication technologies, and the role of authentic materials. It also shows effective ways to organize listening comprehension exercises taking into account the age and individual characteristics of students. The results of the study confirm that it is possible to increase students' communicative competence by developing listening comprehension skills in English lessons.
