Abstract

Cardiac arrhythmias are complex pathological conditions resulting from disturbances in the heart's electrical conduction system and electrophysiological processes at the cellular level. Analysis of scientific sources shows that changes in ion channel activity, impaired automatism, re-entry mechanisms, and triggered activity play a key role in the development of arrhythmias. Clinically, arrhythmias manifest as an increased, decreased, or irregular heart rate and can often lead to severe complications such as heart failure, stroke, and sudden cardiac death. Modern diagnostic methods, including electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, and electrophysiological studies, are essential for detecting arrhythmias. Treatment strategies include antiarrhythmic drugs, catheter ablation, implantable devices, and innovative technologies. At the same time, molecular and genetic research contributes to a deeper understanding of arrhythmias and the development of personalized treatment approaches.
