Abstract

This article examines the impact of social media on English

language learning. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok provide learners with opportunities to practice English in authentic and interactive environments. These platforms enhance vocabulary acquisition, listening and speaking skills, and cultural awareness through exposure to diverse content and communication with native speakers. The study also discusses the challenges associated with social media use, including distraction, misinformation, and excessive dependence on informal language. The findings suggest that when used effectively, social media can serve as a valuable supplementary tool for improving English language proficiency and learner motivation.
