Abstract

Social media has become an integral part of young people's lives. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Telegram, and X provide opportunities for communication, learning, entertainment, and self-expression. However, excessive and uncontrolled use of social media may negatively affect mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sleep disorders, and social isolation. This article examines the impact of social media on the mental health of young people, analyzes both positive and negative aspects of online communication, and discusses strategies for promoting healthy social media use.
