Abstract

This article examines the role of active learning strategies in ESL speaking classes and their impact on learners’ communicative competence. It discusses how interactive methods such as pair work, group discussions, role-play, and task-based activities improve speaking fluency, motivation, confidence, and classroom participation. The article also analyzes the pedagogical advantages and challenges of implementing active learning in speaking instruction. The study concludes that active learning creates a more communicative and student-centered environment that supports effective oral language development.
